Akbar With Lion and Calf – Mughal Fine Art Print(framed)

Price range: 9,000.00 ₨ through 15,000.00 ₨

Fine art print after Akbar With Lion and Calf, Govardhan, ca. 1630. Choose paper or canvas, unframed or framed.

A posthumous portrait of the emperor Akbar (1542-1605) by Govardhan, a master of psychological portraiture. A lion and a calf rest in peace beneath his rule, a motif the court drew from European imagery, while cherubs above and a Netherlandish-style background add a cosmopolitan note. Look for the calf’s nervous sideways glance beside the lion’s visible teeth.
